Seeing is believing at the Coldstones Cut

You can see why we believe the pretty Yorkshire Dales to be a landmark work of art from, well, a landmark work of art. The Coldstones Cut (a walk around attraction) was sculpted overlooking the powerful Coldstones Quarry in Pateley Bridge and beautiful Nidderdale scenery. This makes it the perfect place to admire the countryside canvas.

A creation of artist Andrew Sabin, the mazy walkways limit the views to exciting glimpses before opening up into vast 360° platforms that point you in the direction of distant places. Taking 3 years to build on Greenhow Hill the design sets out in stone how to make a lasting impression. Aerial pictures show the scale of the undertaking but you can’t beat the feeling of being there 1,375 feet above sea level.

Parking for the Coldstones Cut is available at Toft Gate Lime Kiln car park on the B6265 between Skipton and Pateley Bridge. From there a 500 metre footpath climbs up to the sculpture.

Exploring surrounding Nidderdale

After seeing the views from the Coldstones Cut we are sure you’ll want to explore the vistas. Nidderdale is home to the picturesque Pateley Bridge and a wonderful collection of walks. The Nidderdale Way is a 53 mile stretch of walks that stops off at the naturally sculpted Brimham Rocks, the carved ravine of How Stean Gorge and the deer park and gardens of Ripley Castle.
