AVIATION SECURITY OFFICER

We are currently recruiting for Part-Time Aviation Security Officers

Assessment Centre taking place on 27th November 2024

Training Course to start on 10th February 2025

What you will work:

Shift pattern – 4 days on 4 days off

4 shifts will be made up of 3 days at 6 hours and 1 day of 5 hours

Leeds Bradford Airport operates a 24 hour operation but typically, part-time shifts are:

Starting from 3am for early shifts and from 12pm for the late shifts (flexibility is expected for varying start and finish times). This is to help manage the peak passenger flows through the security operation.

Early shifts are more regular due to highest demand being in the morning.

What you will earn:

Salary £12.30 per hour/ £13,476.83 per annum (Full-time Equivalent £25,653)

Training:

To prepare you for taking on the role, you will undergo a four-week training programme.

Your training will include full classroom training with industry leading trainers, to ensure you are equipped with all of the knowledge to perform the role of an Aviation Security Officer. You will then have the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice with a first class on the job training programme to help build your skills in real life situations, but in the safety of a training environment.

The first 4 weeks of your training will mean you will need to work full-time hours during day time office hours Monday – Friday. In order to be offered this role, you must be able to commit to fulfilling these full time training requirements. Once you have completed your training, you will then move on to the rostered 4 on 4 off part time shift pattern.

**You will be paid for working full time hours during your training period

The final part of your training will see you shadowing our highly skilled existing security officers enabling you to perfect your skills ready to face our customer base.

 

Eligibility criteria:

You must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, whilst additional language skills are desirable but not compulsory. Our Security Officers are required by legislation to have full colour vision and the capability to appropriately perform a range of duties. It is also important that you are physically fit as the role will require you to spend periods of time sitting, standing, bending and walking. The minimum age requirement is 18 due to clearance legislation.

You will also be required to pass through a range of referencing and vetting checks, including a Criminal Record Check and Counter Terrorism Check. You must also have lived in the UK for at least 5 years with a 5-year work history, unless in education.

 What will you be doing once qualified:

This is a customer-facing role in which you will be required:

  • To carry out full and effective searches of baggage and airport supplies
  • To carry out full and effective searches of people
  • To carry out full and effective searches of vehicles
  • Undertake patrols of the airport terminal & grounds
  • To control access into restricted areas of the Airport
  • Check identification or travel documents for all passengers, staff and airport users requiring access to restricted areas
  • Deal with on-site security incidents with the team
  • Operate brand new state of the art 3D x-ray equipment to screen all luggage for both the cabin and hold including other items being carried into restricted areas
  • Provide excellent customer service to all passengers travelling through the airport

Working on our exciting LBA:REGEN Project we are looking to employ a PSO who will support Programme Directors to produce and distribute important documents including Project plans and budget trackers while collaborating with the wider team to ensure all work complies with LBA Project Delivery Methodology.

 

Snapshot of the role:

  • Ensure projects stay on track by adhering to LBA delivery methodology.
  • Provide key project insights with timely, accurate information for managers.
  • Summarise and report on project progress regularly for the programme director.
  • Lead Risk ID Workshops and collaborate with the PMO to manage risks effectively.
  • Monitor and update risks and issues to keep projects running smoothly.
  • Facilitate risk reviews with project owners and senior management to ensure mitigation.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Airfield Electrician (Lighting)

Are you an engineer with an electrical bias, with a passion for precision and innovation? We're seeking skilled individuals like you to embark on an exciting journey as an Airfield Electrician.

Role Purpose:

As an Airfield Lighting Systems Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining, installing, and repairing Airport Ground lighting systems and associated controls and power supply systems. Using your technical expertise, you will ensure the seamless operation of critical airfield equipment, including Air Traffic Control, Airport Fire Station, and Air Traffic Engineering sites and equipment. You can expect a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, with rotating shifts and occasional outdoor work..

Role Responsibilities & Main Duties:

  • Maintain and repair AGL lighting systems to CAP 168 standards, ensuring compliance with documentation.
  • Engage in live runway operations using radio telephony, showcasing your technical prowess and adaptability.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance and operational repairs to uphold the serviceability of critical systems.
  • Manage AGL operational generators, UPS's, and standby systems, including refueling operations.
  • Perform monthly MALMS runs to document compliance for AGL photometric measurements, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Evaluate airfield ground lighting installations through daily inspections, guaranteeing optimal performance.
  • Serve as an approved person for AGL high voltage switching/isolation, adhering to safety protocols and HV permits.

  • Lead installation projects for small AGL systems in-house and coordinate larger projects with external partners.

  • Manage maintenance of apron and car park high mast lighting, contributing to overall safety and visibility.
  • Perform monthly checks on airport HV sub stations, ensuring reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications: Essential:

Electrical Engineer (Facilities)

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the team at LBA. This is an exciting opportunity where you will work on bespoke and interesting equipment while benefitting from genuine progression opportunities, great benefits and a sociable shift pattern.

Role Purpose:


Reporting directly to the Senior Maintenance Engineer, the Maintenance Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing both new and existing assets within the terminal and outlying properties. The successful candidate must be a time-served qualified Electrician with 18th Edition certification and will take a hands-on approach to ensure LBA delivers an outstanding passenger experience through continuous improvement and maintenance of current assets.
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all statutory maintenance and standards required as a UK CAA Approved Maintenance Organization are upheld.
Working as part of a small team, the post holder will work on a 3 on 3 off shift pattern, consisting of 2 earlies (05:00-16:00) and 1 late (08:00-19:00) Candidates must also have the flexibility to be on-call during their shift set for any business-critical issues and to occasionally cover annual leave.

Role Responsibilities & Main Duties:

• Involved in a variety of planned and reactive maintenance tasks for electrical distribution and switchgear.
• Conduct inspections and planned maintenance of systems in line with manufacturer’s guidelines and compliance requirements.
• Participate and provide input in a range of other planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including plumbing, joinery, upkeep of baggage handling systems (including motors and belts), and general building repairs/maintenance.
• Complete tasks in accordance with the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) program, as well as handle a mixture of reactive maintenance and project work.
• Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Update and maintain equipment maintenance documentation and logs, produce fault reports, and record events in accordance with data capture requirements.
• Take a hands-on approach when necessary to expedite the restoration of systems in the event of service loss or impairment, prioritizing safety-related systems.
• Support the Engineering Department as needed.
• Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards working hours, covering leave, and being on call for major issues.

Revenue Manager

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Commercial Revenue Manager to oversee and enhance the delivery of revenue for LBA’s in-house commercial products. This role focuses on key areas such as Car Parks, Lounges, Fast Track, and other ancillary services, with a primary goal of maximizing non-aeronautical yield per passenger.

 

Principal Accountabilities / Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Support:

Leeds Bradford Airport operates a 24 hour operation but typically, shifts are:

What does annualised hours mean?

This is new flexible contract where employees will work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern but will work variable shift times, for example in summer (8-12 hour shifts) and smaller shift times in winter (4-8 hour shifts). The monthly rate of pay will be salaried around core hours, meaning the same baseline pay each month regardless of hours worked. All shifts will be notified 1.5 months in advance.

 

What you will earn:

Salary £12.30 per hour/ £23, 728.91 per annum. Salary will be calculated on an average of 37 hours per week and will be paid in equal monthly instalments, regardless of set hours worked that week.

Training:

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide seamless administrative support to the Executive Team, ensuring high-quality service.
  • Represent the airport with integrity, professionalism, and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Organise and manage external meetings, business events, and conferences, ensuring all logistics run smoothly.
  • Manage the administration of Board Meetings and provide meeting support, including accurate minute-taking.

The Aviation Academy 

Do you want a career in the aviation industry but don't have the necessary qualifications yet?

Based at Leeds Bradford Airport, The Aviation Academy offers a full range of specialist courses which will prepare you for a variety of careers in aviation including air cabin crew, passenger service agents, air traffic control staff, pilots and many more.

The Academy is part of the Centre for Travel and Tourism Studies at Craven College and has been offering aviation and business courses at LBA for the past 7 years.
