At the airport FAQ

Are spiked walking sticks or poles allowed in carry-on luggage?

No. Walking sticks with a spiked end or hiking poles are not allowed in the aircraft cabin or in hand luggage. They must be checked in with your hold luggage.

You can find the official guidance on the UK government website, specifically under hand luggage restrictions for sports equipment: Hand luggage restrictions: sports equipment.

We are aware that some customers prefer to use a spiked walking stick as a mobility aid, Unfortunately, due to security regulations, these types of walking aids are not permitted in the aircraft cabin. We recommend using a walking aid with a fixed, flat end.
