Vilnius has the traditional characteristics of a capital city you'd expect. However as an old medieval town, it sure has its quirks. Vilnius is Europe’s largest baroque town; as you explore the centre you'll find a plethora of Orthodox and Catholic churches with stunning architecture and neck-breaking steeples. It’s even a part of the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Walk through the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town and explore the diverse styles of the town from Gothic to Renaissance. Here you'll find the Gediminias Hill with its 13th century castle. Choose the 50km hike up or use the lift; the city views including Cathedral Square and Vilnius Cathedral are just as rewarding either way.
This city is not without its green space either, covering around 40% of its surface you'll never be too far from a park stroll.
